Languages, Names and Xdripian Terminology
Last updated: August 21, 2026
The main portal supports English and Italian, and the two are genuinely parallel there. Across the verticals coverage varies by surface and by content type, and the distinction that matters is between interface and body text. Navigation is broadly bilingual; long-form lore often is not. The Grand Library publishes most of its long works in Italian with bilingual section navigation, and the Codex is primarily Italian with English navigation, exposing Italian and English descriptions on records depending on the dataset behind them.
What travels between languages, and what does not
Proper names do not translate. Xdripia, Xdripian, Sfera Primordiale, Lex Imperii, Mechanum, Lingwa, and the names of characters, places, forces, institutions and artifacts are project terms with fixed forms. Rendering Sfera Primordiale as "Primordial Sphere" is acceptable as a gloss in running English text — the project does it itself — but it is not a rename, and the original should stay recoverable. Terms that look like ordinary words in either language, such as Echoes or Ledger, are still names when capitalised.
Practical rules
- Keep the original term and gloss it once, rather than substituting a nearby English concept.
- Do not silently normalise a project term into an unrelated genre convention.
- XDRIP is uppercase in every language and every context.
- When a record exists in both languages, cite the one you actually read.
If you are unsure whether a capitalised word is a name or a description, check whether the Codex has a category or entry for it. A category index is the fastest test.
